This apprenticeship is designed for managers with operational/project responsibilities, or responsibility for managing a team to deliver a clearly defined outcome. Working in the private, public or third sector, whatever the role, or size of organisation, Apprentices will gain greater self-awareness and a better understanding of the purpose, scope and importance of their role.

An Operations/Departmental Manager is someone who manages teams and/or projects, and achieving operational or departmental goals and objectives, as part of the delivery of the organisation’s strategy. They are accountable to a more senior manager or business owner. Key responsibilities may include creating and delivering operational plans, managing projects, leading and managing teams, managing change, financial and resource management, talent management, and coaching and mentoring.

The improvement practitioner uses a blend of Lean Six Sigma, project and change management principles and tools to identify, as well as lead, change across organisational functions and processes. Improvement practitioners can be found across all sectors and functions including, but not limited to: Automotive, Banking, Engineering, Food products, IT, Property, Retail, and Telecoms.

This apprenticeship is appropriate for a broad spectrum of roles and levels; from upskilling experienced Senior Managers and Engineers to new Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers and Project Team Leaders. Development of broader skills not just focused on one particular methodology, but drawing on the wider technical, financial and behavioural requirements of Project Management.
